Please Accept Your Free Gift

Some gifts we would like. But they are too expensive. Some gifts are so cheap that they break in a very short while. but there is one thing that we know about all gifts. They all loose their luster and excitement. The joy, and even the friends that we gained from the gift, soon fades. We are left empty, unhappy and lonely again. So, we begin to look for the next thrilling thing that will bring it all back. Each time we end up in the same place.

But, my friend, there is a gift that will last forever and bring continual satisfaction. It gives purpose for living. The gift is Jesus Christ. Jesus said in His Holy word, the Bible, "The thief comes but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that you might have life, and that you might have it more abundantly." Again, in the Bible, God says that Jesus is the gift of God. The gift is given freely to all people that will accept it. Maybe that is where you are and are asking, "How can I receive this gift?" We all know there is no such thing as a completely free gift. There is always a price. God is the one who paid the price for this gift with the life of His Son, Jesus. But it is free to us. This is what you have to do to receive the gift:

  1. Admit that you are a sinner.
    • You see, we all break God's laws. God calls that sin. We all sin. Again, God tells us in the Bible, "For the wages of sin is death..." Romans 6:23. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." We cannot come close to obtaining God's standard.
    • That is why, in order to receive God's perfect gift, you must admit you are a sinner.
  2. Believe in Jesus for the payment of your sin.
    • God says, "But God showed His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us," Romans 5:8.
    • Romans 10:9 says, "That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him (Jesus) from the dead, you shall be saved."
    • We must believe that Jesus, through His death on the cross, paid for our sin.
  3. Call upon Jesus to forgive you of your sin and come into your life.
    • Romans 10:13 says, "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Saved means to be rescued or delivered)

If you will tell God these things in your own words and truly believe in Him, you will receive the free gift! You will experience a new life that is overflowing with joy, satisfaction, peace, and a life worth living.
